As I sit here looking out over the deck at my “happy place” I have been reflecting about the last couple of months. To say it has been a whirlwind would be an understatement. New opportunities have popped up, partnerships have started, previous jobs have been left and new friendships have been forged. Some of these have been exciting while others have been scary and foreign. One constant, however, is God’s hand in the entire process. He has been there to celebrate with us in the positives and to hold our hands and reaffirm to us during the negatives.
When Lisa and I first started getting to know each other and I shared with her a vision that I had she said one thing to me that has stuck over these last few months. Something that has become somewhat of a mantra to us.
“Do what makes your Soul happy!”
Such a simple sentence that has resonated with me. Little did I know 9 months ago, just how important this sentence would be in my personal journey. As a wife, mother, daughter, friend it is very easy to put your own happiness on the backburner. Doing what you need to make others around you happy. Some people, like me, find happiness in doing just this. Seeing others happy makes my heart swell. This raises the important question of what makes you happy? Is it a beautiful place to unwind? A song you hear on the radio that takes you back to a special moment in your life? Dancing like no one is watching? Being with family? The word HAPPY is living, changing, being defined based on the personal feelings of people. There is no right or wrong answer. Get out there on this Independence Day, reflect on your life, your independence and do what makes your Soul happy!!!!!! XO
