A holiday book swap helped me to realize I have a surplus of books that need to be read before I purchase any new ones. Trying to find a single book I had read and wished to part with led me to a Resolution to Read. Some books were lent to me years ago by trusting friends, some books I discovered and hadn’t yet opened, others were on my mom’s bedside table before she passed, her bookmark still waiting.
So I lovingly and apologetically gathered them all together in a bright sun-shiny spot and have committed to reading each one. The full list is now on our Goodreads page and I’ll review each upon completion and promptly return those that were borrowed. (sorry!)
My First Five : (in order of book height simply because I like a tidy bookcase):
David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell
If I Live to Be 100 by Neenah Ellis
The Book of Useless Information by Noel Botham
The Shack by Wm. Paul Young
On the Road by Jack Karouac
My Reading Rules:
- If the book is terrible and I stall half-way, I move onto the next book (there are simply too many good books in the world to suffer through a single one).
- I will review each book on the Soulshine Goodreads page.
- No new books will be purchased until I empty the shelf.
- I will pass along or return books once completed.
